Melissa Swonger builds stories, frameworks, and experiences that change how people lead, connect, and create culture. Her work serves people with something meaningful to build—a more intentional life, a book or body of work, a stronger team, or a culture where people can flourish.

Melissa Swonger is the Architect of Connection-Centered Leadership™—a scholar-practitioner, change theorist, international bestselling author, keynote speaker, and trauma-informed executive coach. Her work stands at the intersection of personal experience, faith, and education—three influences that came to her in that order and continue to inform one another. For years, she has brought these ways of knowing into conversation, revealing the often-invisible patterns that shape how people lead themselves, relate to others, and influence culture.
She is the founder of The Sage Hill Project, the home of Connection-Centered Leadership™—an interdisciplinary leadership practice and ideas platform examining how leadership is formed within people and expressed across relationships, organizations, and culture. She is also the creator of the Integrative Transformation Blueprint™, which moves meaningful change through Awareness, Connection, and Movement.
Through this framework, The Sage Hill Project carries a broader mission to mobilize radical kindness globally—enabling people to lead themselves well, relate to and make room for others, and build cultures where people can flourish. Her leadership, coaching, and consulting experience spans business, healthcare, education, nonprofit, faith, and community settings.
Melissa’s work as an author and publishing strategist extends this architecture into the development of books and ideas. Through The Muse and the Method™, she guides emerging authors in discovering where their writing begins, strengthening their distinctive voices, and moving from initial ideas or completed manuscripts to professional publication.
Melissa, a Ph.D. (c) in Psychology at Adler University, conducts doctoral research examining women leaders in the NFL and the informal cultures that shape belonging, advancement, and organizational change.
